Basic Ski Service £40.00
Full Ski Service £48.00 - (As below but inc - Gouge repairs to Ski base)
Belt Grind The base of the ski is run through our Winterstiger machine to remove any 'clicks' in the base from stone pick up etc, this gives us a true platform for a perfect running surface at the same time the bevel (base edge) of the ski is also cut keeping the exact same bevel degree as set on the ski base.
Base Preparation Base is cleaned using warm hot wax (hot scrape); this removes dirt and any old wax - the base is then lightly roughened using ski pads to improve wax absorption.
Ceramic Edge Polish Using our Winterstiger Edge Polisher the side edge of the Ski is sharpened in our machine again we measure the edge angle before hand and replicate this angle onto your side edges - we then de-burr the hanging edge that is left by the machine.
Hot Wax All waxing is done by hand, the majority of shops using a waxing machine but with E2W we believe for deeper wax absorbtion you need to either hotbox your skis or use a iron. All our skis are not put through a waxing machine but are hand waxed taking time and making sure the ski base has full wax absorbtion. We also make sure we check with you on roughly when and where you are skiing to make sure we iron in the correct wax, this is crucial for maximum glide performace and minimum stiction - E2W does not use a universal wax like most high street shops!
Rotor Brush After a few hours of cooling down - Ski is now ready for the wax to be scrapped and brushed out to leave the running surface of the ski smooth with no wax inconsistencies. We use different types of brushes leading up to a final finish rotor brush - this is done several times for optimised finish.
Flow Finish Liquid base finish to improve glide properties and make the wax last longer, this is also applied on the edges as well.
Binding Check Bindings checked for fatigue and to insure all mechanical moving parts are sound.
Wintersteiger Ceramic Stone Grinding process
The side edge of the Ski is first run through our main Wintersteiger service machine before being polished with our hand held ceramic polisher.
The Wintersteiger ceramic polisher only takes back a few thousands of an inch of edge material.
This will enable you to retain a good sharp edge angle for a longer period of time and also remove any case hardened edge material. |
